ANNOUNCEMENTS!

To cast the spell of Scheherezade, the band will be using some unusual props. Each Guard and Belle - all 48 of them - will have a "moon staff" and members of the band will also move around them. But we need help to build them! The moon staffs need to be completed before band camp so the students can practice marching around them. Moon staff building days are this Saturday July 26 from 9:00 - ? and Sunday July 27. They also will have flags to sew....

The Summer Band packet was mailed to all students in mid-June. If you have not received yours...

Attention Incoming AHS Trojan Band Freshmen!

Even though the fall semester is a long way off, here are a few things you need to know.....

Make sure you register for BAND and MARCHING BAND, not instrumental ensemble. (Marching Band meets outside the normal school day in ZERO HOUR)

Coming up - Summer Band Camp dates are as follows...
July 27- 29 - Leadership Camp for Section Leaders, Drum Majors, and Band Officers
July 30 thru August 22 - Everybody else show up and participate in summer band camp!
School is supposed to begin on August 25th.

In early June, a packet was mailed to your homes with all the information you will need to get started - dates, times, fair share, music, etc. Please make certain your correct mailing address is on file with the school.

ABBA's Support of the Band Program

Things that ABBA did to support the Anderson Band Program in 2006 - 2008

  • Chaperoned football games
  • Chaperoned marching band contests
  • Plan, organize and serve meals on game days
  • Attended games, concerts, parades, contests to support students
  • Summer band snacks and parties –watermelon, water balloons, cookies, breakfast, dunking booth…as well as providing or assisting with social and fun events throughout the year.
  • Chaperone London Trip
  • Flamingo-ing support
  • Summer Band events – picnic, swim party, pizza party…etc
  • Pit Crew for football games, contests, Drumline, Winter Guard, Color Guard etc
  • Attend/organize Friday Night Lights tapings
  • Spaghetti Supper/Chamber concert
  • Booster Club Auction
  • Prepare Senior Concert program
  • decorate BH for special occasions
  • support for Band Officers for Banquet
  • Fit, mend, inventory marching and concert uniforms
  • Carpools
  • Financial records
  • Produce Band Phone Directory
  • Produce parent “brag buttons”
  • Produce and Maintain Band Website (for communications)

  • Shooting scads of photos for the directors’ use in critiquing the show leading up to marching contest and at regionals… probably 450 photos shot from press box level that are very useful in letting the directors see who’s out of line.

Photo Gallery Information

These are photos taken by fellow band parents and students and are organized by event and year. Be sure to check back regularly as new photos are uploaded all the time. Photobucket is a photo-buying website, but you are able to download photos to your computer for free. We are not going to put up anything that is inappropriate. Kid’s names will not be on the photos. BECAUSE these are our kids, we have to be sure to use these photos wisely. Also, remember that these photos are really the property of whoever took them, and they are sharing them with you.

Attention Band Parents:

Do you have questions about the band program and activities?
Are there things your student is not telling you?
Don't worry - you are not alone. The first year of marching band can be mysterious and frustrating (especially for parents - the students catch on pretty quickly!!!).

Randall's Remarkable Card
GOOD NEIGHBOR PROGRAM #5311
Shopping at Randall's Grocery Store benefits the Trojan Band when you use your Remarkable Card.  Use the card for each purchase, and an amount equal to 1% of the cost will be donated to the Anderson Band Boosters Association for use to support the band.  This does not affect the discounts your receive when you use the card.  Just go to the Customer Service desk, and ask them to assign your card to #5311 - Anderson Band Boosters Association.  Recruit your friends and relations!
