Honor Band updates
The Anderson Band Wind Ensemble has had the honor of
being chosen as the only AISD school to move ahead in the
Texas Honor Band Competition and is one of two bands
chosen from Region 18.
The Anderson High School Wind Ensemble advanced to Texas
State 5A Honor Band finals after competition on June 22, 2010.
The Honor Band competition is the highest level of concert band
competition in the state of Texas.
This is a huge honor for Anderson High School!
On July 25th, Anderson will again compete against the other 13
qualifiers (7 Areas with 2 from each advancing to competition)
from across the state at the Texas Bandmasters Association
Convention in San Antonio.
Judges will again hear only taped performances and the winner of
this round will be named the Texas Music Educators Association
5A Honor Band and will perform at the TMEA Convention in February.
Congratulations to the students, parents and directors Ryan Zysk, Jesus Torres, Shannon Gill, and Corey Bergdorf.
Kudos to AHS Band Member Michelle Girardot!
She earned a 100 on the 10th grade level UIL State Theory Test,
and also received an Outstanding Performer Medal for her score on the test.
Out of over 22,000 musicians who competed at the Texas State
Solo and Ensemble Contest, only 231 earned the honor!
Please remember that ALL music must be MEMORIZED
for the first week of band camp.
