This is  the home page of the Austin Symphonic Band, the official band of the City of Austin. Under the baton of  Music Director Richard Floyd, this Texas-based group has become one of this nation's premier volunteer concert bands.


Bands of America's mission is to create and provide "positively life-changing" experiences for students, teachers, parents and communities.

Founded in 1975, Bands of America is the nation's leading presenter of music events for high school band students. Playing to a national audience of band students, families, teachers and enthusiasts.

Today, Bands of America's events include more than  25 events nationwide, including the Grand National Championship, National Concert Band Festival, Summer Band Symposium, 14 Regional Championships, Regional Concert Band Festivals, and student leadership clinics.

The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation supports music education and its many benefits through the donation and repair of musical instruments to underserved schools, community music programs and individual students nationwide.

Formerly Music Educators National Conference, the association's name was changed in 1998 to MENC: The National Association for MusicEducation to better reflect its mission...To advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.

MENC developed the National Standards for Music Education and administered the overall development of the National Standards for  Arts Education (1994) under a grant from the U.S. Department of  Education, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the   National Endowment for the Arts. The National Standards represent the first comprehensive set of educational standards for K-12 arts  instruction.


The Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) offers a competitive outlet during winter for color guard, indoor marching percussion and concert percussion units. Our competitive season begins in January and culminates in our Circuit Championships in early April.


Guides the all-region and all-state audition process, audition locations, and sponsors the honor band competition.

 The Band Division column of the Southwestern Musician is the official medium for publication of the audition material.
 All amendments, corrections, and errata will become official only after being published in this column.

University Interscholastic League (UIL) Music Program

The Music Program of the UIL is designed to support and enrich the teaching of music as an integral component of the public school curriculum in the state of Texas. Each year approximately one half million middle school, junior high and high school students reap the benefits of participation in the ten UIL music events.

The purpose of this site is to provide students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the general public with current information pertaining to all aspects of UIL music activities.


VH1 Save the Music Foundation

VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education in America's public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child's complete education. Since 1997, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation has provided more than $30 million worth of new musical instruments to over 1,200 schools in 80 communities, affecting the lives of more than 700,000 public school children.
