Greetings Band Fans!
Congratulations to the following students for representing us in the All City Band this past weekend!! Alice Hayes, Alyssa Lopez, Blake Anderton, Gianna Arredondo, Lea Zimmerman, Lila Tamburrano, JunGi Jung, Matthew McHorse, Aleksander Pach and Daniel Barrett. Congratulations on a fabulous concert under the direction of Professor Josh Gall from the University of Texas! Go Trojans!
SOLO AND ENSEMBLE: Rehearsals with your pianist will start NEXT WEEK (Jan 28). Schedules will be posted tomorrow in the band hall. You need to know your solo part inside and out. You will also want to listen to recordings and practice along with recordings so that when you rehearse with your pianist it is time well spent and you understand how the parts fit together. Remember $50 accompanist fee is due at the first rehearsal (or split into payments – make arrangements with your pianist!)
Wind Ensemble: Your practice focus for this week is 1) your solo of course! 2) Quartets (remember we play it on Tuesday’s concert) 3) Southern Harmony mvt 4 (measures 100-200 at met 90). Keep last week’s practice focus of Southern Harmony measures 1-100 under your fingers as well! Please also listen to recordings! A great reference recording is on Spotify “North Texas Wind Symphony” Album. If you don’t have spotify, you can find both on you tube videos. Listen in the car, while doing the dishes for your parents, on your jog…..you need to be listening to recordings daily in addition to your personal practice!!
