I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving week! Looking forward to seeing everyone this coming week!
This week Wind Ensemble has Region Check #3 on Wednesday. Full etudes, minimum marked tempo.
REGION BAND AUDITIONS are this week at AKINS High School. They are mandatory for wind ensemble (grade) and Symphonic Band is either auditioning or has an alternate assignment. Each symphonic student knows what ‘their’ plan is. As soon as the region publishes what instruments go which day I will get that out to everyone. Generally speaking, the Thursday Phase ONE round consists of flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, percussion. All other instruments usually go only Saturday. I will field trip auditioning students from their last period of the day on Thursday so that they can have plenty of time to get something to eat and make the trek down to Akins. We are unable to get school buses during that time (because of routes) therefore each student needs to either car pool or arrange transportation to and from the audition. . They will check in at 5pm and auditions will probably start at 5:30pm. Like I said, I will get you information as I get it from the region. Students that place in the top of their room Thursday will advance to the Saturday audition for Phase 2 so please plan on that possibility. REGION BAND CONCERT AND CLINIC for those that make it will be Dec 7 and 8. Dec rehearsals are 1pm-9pm and are at Anderson (YAY!) Saturday rehearsals and concert will be at the AISD Performing Arts Center.
Full Orchestra – Holiday Concert is December 5. Rehearsals are Monday and Friday 7:55am. The only exception is on weeks with no Monday due to a student holiday. Mr. Frazier will have a full calendar for all next week.
Winter Guard – Rehearsals start this MONDAY and are 5:30pm-8:30pm. Staging camp is coming up December 11-13 and is our single most important week. All members need to turn in the member acknowledgement forms, and maintain grades going into the end of the semester.
Indoor Drumline: Rehearsal tomorrow for all members 5-7pm, bring money/dues if still owed.
ABBA MEETING is December 3 at 6:30pm in the Band Hall (we may meet in ensemble room because of rehearsals – look for signs).
WINTER CONCERT is December 11 at Anderson at 7pm. Call time for students is dressed ready to warm up at 6:15pm.
