Greetings!
Congratulations to our wonderful students from Anderson that were selected to perform with the All-City band this weekend! The All-city band is comprised of students from all 12 AISD high schools, and worked with guest conductors and clinician Don Haynes all weekend. Claire Vasseur, Alexis Townsend, Game Stahl, Lea Zimmerman, Lila Tamburrano, Jasper Davis, Leah Dubiel and Jacob Dylla all represented the Trojan Band BEAUTIFULLY!!! We are so proud of your work!
Thursday of this week we will travel to our feeder Elementary schools on the annual Anderson Band ‘Tour.’ It will include ALL Trojan Band students. At the bottom of this email there is a schedule for the day.
Additionally, there is an instrument information fair at Davis Elementary the same morning. 5th grade students have been learning about the instruments for a month and have created questions about instruments that interest them. Representatives from the band will go to answer their questions in person in an instrument information fair from 7:50am-9:20am. Some have already signed up, but if you are interested please email Ms. Gonzalez Andrea.k.gonzalez@austinisd.org. You just need to be dropped off at Davis at 7:30am, and we will pick you up when we come through Davis later that with the rest of the band and the buses and take you back to Anderson with us.
ELEMENTARY TOUR SCHEDULE – Jan 25th
Wear: Anderson Luminosity T-shirt (from marching season) and jeans, pants or shorts
Music: We will play several stand tunes and cadences. Bring entire flip folder – playlist will be on the whiteboard in the band hall.
Every year we hit the road to perform at as many of our feeder elementary schools as we can in order to engage in our vertical team community, let our students reconnect with their former teachers, and to get kids grades K-5 excited about Band! This year since we pulled our students out of so much class in the fall (UIL, St. Louis, etc.), we decided to put the Elementary Tour in the spring semester. Since we are leaving right at 9 for Summitt, students need to be on the bus no later than 8:50am wearing jeans and their Luminosity shirt. Drumline, low brass, and low reed instruments will go on a box truck that needs to be loaded before students get on the bus.
