Performance Schedule for Spring 2019
(This is mostly definitive, unlikely to change but not impossible)
Parker Jazz Club – Thursday, March 7, from 7 to 9 PM
117 W 4th St #107B, Austin, TX 78701
We will meet at 5:30 at the Parker Jazz Club to load in and set-up. This is a combined performance with the Bowie and Austin High jazz bands. We will perform first and stay to support the other groups. Permission slips MUST be turned in (those will be available soon). More details about tickets etc, coming soon.
Temple Jazz Festival – Saturday, March 30
Warm up at 3, perform at 3:30. Evening concert at 7:30 (The Temple Jazz Orchestra featuring Luis Conte)
Temple College, 2600 South First Street, Temple, TX 76504
Meet at school at noon for warm-up/load time. We will take a luxurious yellow school bus up to Temple. The plan is to go to get food between our performance time and the featured concert, just like last year.
Longhorn Jazz Festival – Saturday, April 13
Warm up at 2, perform at 2:30. Evening concert at 7:30 (UT Jazz Orchestra with Joe Lovano).
Butler School of Music – The University of Texas
We will meet at Anderson at 12:30 for a brief warm-up and load time, then depart at 1 for UT. This gives us a little time to park, etc. There will be a lot going on around campus that day so the more carpooling we can do, the better. (Parent volunteers, please?!)
For the evening concert, we will need to order tickets in advance (deadline to order is March 27th). We will take care of this in class before Spring Break. Those are available to us at a discounted rate of $10/ticket when ordered in advance. This concert is not required but you are highly encouraged to attend.
Swinging in the Spring featuring Andre Hayward – Wednesday, May 1
Anderson HS Auditorium. Soundcheck at TBD, concert at 7.
This is our annual combined concert with Murchison Middle School. This year, thanks to a grant through the Austin Jazz Society, we are bringing in a guest artist/clinician to perform with our students! Andre Hayward is a local trombone player who has performed with some of the best jazz musicians in the world and we are very fortunate to have him work with our students.
