Being a member in a marching or concert band means you are part of something bigger than yourself–an experience that cannot be replicated by oneself. Supporting this opportunity for our kids is why the band boosters (ABBA–Anderson Band Booster Association) coordinate parent volunteers to support both our kids and the dedicated staff members.

To all parents . . .

. . . who contributed food or drinks at the band potluck dinner, or helped to clean up afterwards

. . . who provided ice pops at the end of the four-hour morning rehearsals

. . . who washed the ice rags and refilled the coolers for another day

. . . who shepherded students through uniform fittings

. . . who drove kids around during flamingo-ing to raise money for our band program from our community

. . . who opened your home to students during flamingo-ing who needed a place to regroup (and maybe a frozen treat)

. . . who even just said an encouraging word to other students about how they showed great effort in band camp

Thank you so much!

What makes this band program thrive from year to year is the community support from parents, neighbors, relatives, local business owners, and alumni families–as well as our team of band directors.

Making this experience be the best it can be for our kids is why we volunteer. If you are looking for some way to contribute during football season, please check out the suggestions about different volunteer opportunities or go straight to the list of SignUps.

We are still looking for a person/family to be the Snack Guru, which is a great way to contribute on a flexible schedule. You can read more about that from the last family to provide that service to the band.

A final note–you can always ask a question of a band parent by e-mailing trojanbandparent@gmail.com.

I’ve already heard many comments about the unique feel of this year’s group–supportive, helpful, nurturing. It’s going to be a great year!
