Greetings Trojan Band Family,
We are off to an amazing start. We are moving quickly through our lesson plan and the kids are really pushing and doing an amazing job. It’s a joy to work with them all day!
REGISTRATION DAY is this Saturday (AUG 3)!! Everyone is required to attend (guard and band) to do all of the administrative things – this is the ‘fill out forms and pay fees day.’ We are in the band hall from 9am-noon….to help the flow of traffic we prefer freshmen come from 9-10; sophomores from 10-11 and juniors and seniors from 11-12. If you can’t make your designated time frame that is fine….as long as you come some time between 9 and noon this Saturday! **NOTE FROM UNIFORM PARENTS: ALL RETURNING STUDENTS NEED TO TRY ON THEIR POLO AND DINKLES. IF THEY NEED A NEW PAIR THEY NEED TO ADD THEIR NAME TO THE WHITE LIST ON THE UNIFORM ROOM DOOR WHEN THEY COME THROUGH FOR FITTINGS!! WE WILL PLACE THE ORDER THIS COMING MONDAY.**
We had marching spot auditions this morning which consisted of a test of the skills we have taught them all week. This will help us place everyone with a dot. They did great – and tomorrow we will start learning drill!!! They need to make sure they have the app Ultimate Drill Book installed on their phone for tomorrow so we can quickly start learning. If they have any issues please have them see a director before they leave TODAY!!!
Flamingo-ing will continue for another week and a half. The kids had a hugely successful night, and the sections that found the most success were the ones that brought their instruments with them and hit the most houses. Please make sure they are hitting every house on the street, and logging their data AS THEY GO! I know some sections are desperate for parent drivers (clarinets specifically told me they were struggling) so if you are able to drive for them please CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP.
