Eligibility in marching band is a tight margin. The first 6 weeks report card completely defines eligibility for the season, because if you lose eligibility at the 6 weeks mark, you cannot regain until the progress report PLUS the week grace period…Meaning you would loose eligibility right before our first competition CAPITOL CITY. You would not regain eligibility until the day before BOA Waco. We would not put in someone who has been ineligible right before a competition….therefore if you are ineligible and regain, you can start traveling with us again but you will not regain a primary spot in the season.
If a student loses eligibility, they still come to all classes and rehearsals, the only difference is they cannot travel with the band to games and competitions until eligibility is regained.
DATE OF THE GRADE CHECK IS SEPTEMBER 20 at 4:30pm. You must be passing all classes by 4:30 when the registrar runs the campus wide eligibility report!
The number ONE REASON students lose eligibility is not turning in homework. In 12 years of teaching, I have never had a student become ineligible that turned in all of their homework ON TIME.
