Greetings Trojan Band Fans!

We are almost there – SUMMER BAND CAMP and FLAMINGO-ING coming your way!

This part of the year can be a bit busy so I just wanted to send a ‘TOP 5’ your way of things to have on your radar going into next week!

  1.  Band Camp starts Monday, July 31 at 8am on the parking lot (Steck and Mesa).  Wear athletic shorts, white t-shirt and athletic shoes.  Bring a LARGE water jug and hydrate by drinking water ALL WEEKEND!  Eat breakfast….even if you hate breakfast (eggs, toast, bagel, fruit are good choices.  Try to avoid dairy).
  2. New to band parent meeting TONIGHT (7/28) at 6pm in the band hall.  If you can’t make it tonight – no fear, I will hold another immediately after our band family picnic this coming Monday.
  3. Forms and Fair Share payment #1 are due Monday!  Fair share payment #1 is important to pay deposit deadlines for St. Louis and competition buses.  Email Ms. Gonzalez with issues andrea..k.gonzalez@austinisd.org
  4. FLAMINGO-ING Starts MONDAY NIGHT and kicks off with the Band Family Picnic at 6pm in the Anderson Cafeteria/Courtyard area – potluck style!  Come meet our band family, eat great food and cheer on our kids as we send them to FLAMINGO that night!  Section leaders need parent drivers DESPERATELY!  Please watch for information coming from them on the lookout for drivers and sign up for a night or two.
  5. VOLUNTEER!  Please please please get involved as a parent – I cannot stress this enough.  It takes a village to operate the Trojan Band, and it increases our connection to you and your family at the same time.   I can tell you most people think there is not a place for them, they don’t have the time, or someone else will step up.  Please reach out even if it’s just once.  Come help the catering committee serve dinner one Friday night, or attend a uniform room fitting day.  If you are not sure how to get involved or how to contribute please email Marcie Skonieczny Marcieds@sbcglobal.net.  WE NEED YOU!

That’s all for the moment.  Take note of these 5 points and you are golden.

Musically,

Ms. Gonzalez
