Together with the Trojan Guard, our musicians learn to march, play, and perform a spectacular show in just a few months, followed by a challenging concert season for the rest of the school year. They learn self discipline, trust, musicianship, collaboration, and the joyful pride that comes with creating something bigger than themselves. Register for Band to be part of the fun.

Meet the BAND

Our musicians work hard all year but the season is divided into two distinct sections that, more or less, coincide with the school semesters. Everyone is involved in marching season but as soon as that’s over, students move into one of three concert season bands, grouped by skill and experience. There are also opportunities to join ensembles that meet before and after school, as well as participate in pep bands and other not-for-credit musical opportunities.

Marching Season

Everybody in the band is required to march. Marching season extends from band camp in July through the last competition or football game in November and requires practices before and after school as well as a handful of weekend competitions. We are the hardest working group in our school and we love every minute of it.

Concert Season

Concert season begins when the marching season ends and runs through to graduation. Musicians audition for placement in one of three band levels, depending on skill and instrumentation. The concert season schedule is much more relaxed and opens up opportunities for other types of ensembles to form in the free time.

Other Ensembles

Jazz Band, Orchestra, Guitar, Keyboard, and several other classes are available at Anderson. There are also after- or before-school opportunities, depending on teacher availability and schedule. These might include a second Jazz group, Full Orchestra, or a Trombone Choir. Ask your directors for this year’s opportunities.

Pep Band

Pep bands for basketball, lacrosse, and other sports are generally student led. If you’re interested in starting a pep band for a sport, reach out to a director for advice.
