Typical Game Day Schedule

  • 4:40 pm: School ends. Students load instruments and eat dinner.
  • 5:00 pm: Students change into uniform (performance or casual, depending on the weather).
  • 5:20 pm: Inspection, announcements, and loading buses.
  • 5:40 pm: Depart Anderson.
  • 6:10 pm: Arrive at the stadium, unload, and head to the stands.
  • 7:00 or 7:30 pm: Kickoff! Students play songs, cheer on the team, and have a great time in the stands.
  • Halftime: Perform the marching show! Each week, we add new choreography and music, so no two performances are ever quite the same.
  • 10:30 pm (approximate): Depart the stadium. The head chaperone will post an estimated arrival time on the Band App.
  • 11:00 pm: Return to Anderson.
  • 11:30 pm: Latest time students should be picked up (about 30 minutes after arrival).

This schedule may vary slightly depending on the game, but it gives a good sense of the evening’s rhythm!

Students don’t need to wear anything special to school on game days, but they do have designated uniforms for performances. Early in the season, when it’s still hot, students usually wear the cooler, casual uniform. As the weather cools, they’ll switch to the full marching uniform.

Watch for updates from the directors and on the Band App for details on what to wear for each game.

You have three options for your student’s game day meal: you can purchase meals for the season through our ABBA catering program, send your child with a non-perishable meal, or drop off food at mealtime. In addition, snacks will be available on the bus before and after the game.

Yes, absolutely! We highly encourage parents to attend. The students love seeing familiar faces in the crowd, and you’ll have a great time, too. If possible, we ask that you stay for the entire game to support the football team. We are One Anderson, and showing up for each other is an important part of that spirit.

Students and certain volunteers, such as Pit Crew and chaperones, get into football games for free. For everyone else, ticket prices vary depending on whether the game is against another Austin ISD team or an opponent from outside the district. Home tickets are purchased via the Tickets are typically purchased through an app, which may differ based on the stadium hosting the game. Prices usually range from $5 to $10. Details on purchasing tickets and other game-day information will be shared in the Band App ahead of each game.

Show your spirit by wearing your Anderson Band and Guard shirts — you can find them in our merch store . At the game, look for the parent block near the Band and Guard section. We chant, cheer, and channel our inner cheerleaders, and when we’re together in one place, cheering with one voice, it really makes an impact. The students notice and it means a lot to them.

Purchase spirit gear

Most venues require clear bags and backpacks, so be sure to plan accordingly. Early in the season, the weather is typically hot — bringing a personal fan and a wet washcloth can help you stay cool. Most stadiums only allow sealed water bottles, but food and drinks are always available for purchase. Stadium chairs can also make a big difference in comfort. Finally, be sure to check each venue’s specific rules about noisemakers, as policies can vary.

Once the buses are on their way back to Anderson, an estimated arrival time will be posted on the Band App. Pick-up takes place at the band hall, and please remember that traffic flows one way only. If possible, park in designated parking spots. If you are waiting in the pick-up line in front of the band hall, be sure to leave space in the left lane for cars to pass. For everyone’s safety, please do not pick up students from the left lane in front of the band hall.
