Student leadership

Our student leaders are the backbone of our Trojan Band and Guard

The Anderson Trojan Band and Guard is dedicated to building future leaders. Character, commitment, and discipline are the defining characteristics of student leaders who are the backbone of our student community and essential to the success of every student in the program. Our leaders go through a rigorous audition process to determine which person, or group of people, are most qualified for the positions available. Once chosen, the leaders are responsible for building community, sharing communication, and ensuring every student has the support they need to have a great time and be successful in the band.

drum majors

These students set the tone for the band and serve as the musical leaders on and off the field. These positions are all selected by the directors after a lengthy interview/audition process.

section captains

More experienced students serve in this role to help the directors coalesce the individual sections into a strong unified performing ensemble with the tools to get the job done.

section leaders

Each musical section has a leader whose job is to make sure every performer feels welcomed, supported, and has the knowledge they need to succeed. They schedule activities and fun events throughout the summer and school year to ensure the groups bond and have fun while working hard.

Band Student Council

This is an elected group of students who represent their grade levels and organize events like the band banquet.

Leaders attend several days of training before Band Camp in July and then attend regular meetings throughout the year.
