Band Events

The goal of the Anderson Band and Guard is to develop happy healthy humans who feel connected to people around them and are proud of their work as musicians and dancers. We provide or participate in a variety of events throughout the year to help our students bond with each other and make a difference in our Anderson community.

Pep Rallies and Parades

If there’s a pep rally, our band is there bringing the noise! We never miss an opportunity to show off our Trojan Pride. We lead the Anderson Homecoming Parade and you’ll find us marching in our local parade on the 4th of July, as well.

Summer Band Camp

Summer Band Camp is required for all Trojan Band and Guard students and starts a few weeks before school begins. It’s where we learn the music and choreography for this year’s show and gives our students a chance to bond and connect with fellow bandmates. It’s also when we flock together for our famous Flamingo fundraiser. It’s a great way to end the summer and start the school year with a posse of friends. It’s also when parents go to Registration Day to learn more about the band, fill out forms, discover ways to contribute, and meet the Trojan Band and Guard community.

Pool Party

The whole Trojan Band and Guard meets at a local pool for a couple of hours of splashy fun after a long hot day of Summer Band Camp. Leadership will fill you in on the details at camp.

Midnight Madness

This long-standing Anderson community tradition is a celebration of the first day of football practice in pads. It’s a Texas thing, y’all. This is the first time the Trojan Band and Guard performs part of a show for the general public and the entire school looks forward to it every year. They’re not kidding, though, it happens at midnight.

Student Banquet

Every year student leadership plans and hosts a banquet for the Trojan Band and Guard. It’s a formal event with a theme that is generally held at a local country club where they eat, dance, play games, and give each other awards, accolades, and the occasional gentle ribbing. There is a nominal fee per ticket to cover expenses but, as always, please let your director know if you need help with the ticket.

Band Trips

The Trojan Band and Guard have a tradition of attending a music festival in Hawaii every four years as their “once-in-a-bandtime” big trip as a group. This gives every student an opportunity to attend once. We also plan smaller, more local trips more frequently and competitions offer an opportunity for our band to visit other cities and explore local parks or attractions.
