Frank Nedley
Director of Bands
A Native Texan, Mr. Nedley grew up in Grapevine and earned a Music Education degree with a percussion emphasis from the University of North Texas. He taught and arranged the Green Brigade Drumline, marched with Carolina Crown and Phantom Regiment, and performed with the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks drumlines. After touring nationally, he began teaching at Anderson High School in 2012 and became Director of Bands in 2024.
Calvin Householder
Assistant Band Director
Calvin Householder holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Oklahoma State University, where he studied trombone with Paul Compton and served as Baritone Section Leader and Drum Major for the Cowboy Marching Band. He marched with the Boston Crusaders from 2018-2021, aging out as Drum Major and receiving the Michael J. Woodall Leadership Award. He later served on the brass staff for the Crusaders, was Assistant Director at Lockhart Junior High, and visual instructor for Lockhart High. He enjoys climbing and cycling in his free time.
Hunter Smith
Assistant Band Director
Hunter Smith, a clarinetist and Austin native, is a graduate of Vandegrift High School, where he was Head Drum Major and a state marching medalist. He earned a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of North Texas, serving as a Drum Major of the Green Brigade and studying clarinet under Daryl Coad and completed his student teaching in Leander ISD. Before joining the Anderson staff in 2024, he was Assistant Band Director at Hudson Bend MS (Lake Travis ISD), as well as at Burnett JH and Harrison IS (Wylie ISD) for a combined three years.
Chad Wood
Guard Director
Chad Wood, a Colorado native, is a lifelong fan and performer of the marching arts. He marched with the Blue Knights (2015-20170), serving as color guard captain in 2017 and performing internationally at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Bahrain. He later marched with the Bluecoats (2018) and Santa Clara Vanguard (2019), and has performed with WGI finalists Malachi, CGT Dallas, and Invictus World. Chad has taught programs across Colorado, Minnesota, and Texas for over eight years. He joined the Anderson High School Color Guard staff in 2021 and is also a choreographer with Invictus World.
Kenzie Hewitt
Guard Director
Kenzie Hewitt began her marching career at Claudia Taylor Johnson High School in San Antonio, earning honors such as BOA Grand Nationals finalist (2011), Rose Parade performer (2013), and WGI Open CLass silver medalist (2013). She marched with the Blue Knights for three summers and aged out with the Bluecoats in 2018. Kenzie has also performed and taught with Invictus World Guard since its founding. She has worked with various programs across Texas and served on staff with RCR and the Troopers. Kenzie joined the Anderson Guard staff in 2021 and is proud to call the Trojan Band her home.
