The Anderson Band Booster Association (ABBA) are a group of parents and community members who actively support the Anderson Band and Guard program. We are led by a volunteer board and include every parent with a student in our band program. Between us we ensure every student is clothed, fed, transported, safe, supported, and has everything they need to go on the field and perform at their highest level. It takes over 50 volunteers behind the scenes and on the ground at every event to keep the band running smoothly. Some of these are lead positions, requiring some experience as a volunteer on the team before taking over. Most of these are one-time volunteers who are recruited via a SignUp Genius link that will be distributed as the opportunities arise.

ABBA’s goal is to support our band in every way possible. We know happy, healthy kids do great things and well-supported adults provide the environment that everyone needs to thrive. Here are a few ways we take care of our band community.

• Manage uniforms
• Feed marchers
• Chaperone games, competitions, and events
• Transport students
• Design and sell band Trojan Band and Guard merchandise
• Transport equipment and push on and off the field for performance
• Announce our program at halftime and competitions
• Take photos and videos for parents to view and share

• Celebrate weekly marching award winners
• Support events, including the Student Banquet
• Lead fundraising efforts
• Manage the website
• Help with communication between directors and parents
• Manage social media and other communication
• Connect our band with other schools and organizations
• Provide support and awareness of our school’s staff and support staff

Communication

Our primary communication vehicle is the Parent channel on the Band App. You’ll receive more information about how to sign up for this through the band director when your student registers for band and guard.

Meetings

ABBA membership meets once a month throughout the school year, generally in person in the band hall. Go to the calendar for more details and updated dates.
