Hey Band (parents)!!
Are you looking for a way to help band? Are you reliable? Do you like sitting at the tippy top of the bleachers to watch everything? Do you LOVE climbing stairs? If so, I have a job for you!
This year my band member is a senior! This means after 2026 the band will need a new videographer. Didn’t even KNOW the band had a videographer? We do! It’s me! But it won’t be for much longer. I’m looking for a volunteer to start showing the ropes this year.
What you’ll do:
- Sit at the top of the stands with a tripod and your phone to record each performance, including the end of each one at the games where our sponsors are read off (this is important because the sponsors are sent the video)
- You have to show up early and stake out a good spot!
- Upload the video to the ABBA YouTube account
- Share the link with the band parents group, the guard parents group, and most importantly to Mr. Nedley
Mr. Nedley, Mr. Householder, and Mr. Smith use the video to review the performances in the classroom as an educational tool to go over the good things they spot and areas in need of improvement. You can’t zoom in on one person or group because they need to see the entire band at once.
- The requirements:
- Have a phone with a good camera that can capture the entire band
- Be at EVERY game
- Be at EVERY performance and if you can’t be, coordinate a replacement for the day
- I am donating my tripod to the band at the end of the year, so you can use that one or purchase your own!
For football games and competitions you will have a “press pass” that usually lets you through to the other teams side of the field to record, but sometimes they try to push back about letting you over. Likewise at some of the bigger performances the folks at the gate try to argue about bringing your tripod in. This position needs someone who will always keep a cool head and be polite but firm. A positive attitude and a smile have gone a long way in letting me take stuff into venues the last three years or so!
If this sounds interesting to you let me know! This may work better as a responsibility for a small group of people who can take turns. Happy to show anyone who is interested the ropes!
GO BAND!
